Women Gamers are Becoming More and More Common

  • Video games aren't just for adolescent boys anymore. During E3 the Entertainment Software Association released the report, "The 2008 Essential Facts About the Computer and Video Game Industry." 1,200 houses with a gaming console or PC were surveyed; the results were that two-thirds of the household play games, the average age for a gamer is the ripe old age of 35 and women who game that are over 18 are double the amount of boys under 17 who play games.

It is believable that women compromise approximately 40% of gamers in the US, but it doesn't seem right that the average age for a gamer is 35. Most people who are 35 and over are too concerned with their "lives". Plus, most 80 year olds don't play games or even move, so an outlier seems unlikely.
