Wii Classic Controller Going to be Yanked |
![]() |
Back in 2006, Anascape Ltd. filed a lawsuit against Nintendo for infringing on some patents and it didn't bode too well for Nintendo. As a result, the Wavebird controller for the Gamecube has been rarely seen (ie- not at all) on the shelves. Now Nintendo is trying to appeal ... again.
Unfortunately U.S. District Judge Ron Clark shut down Nintendo's appeal for a new trial. Because of the patent infringement, Clark also plans to ban any more sales of the Wii Classic Controller, the Wavebird Controller, and the Nintendo GameCube. The ban should start within the next few days unless Nintendo posts a bond or puts royalties into an escrow account. Many gamers are upset that the Classic and the Wavebird are permanently on their way out, but do not fear for the Wiimote or Nunchuk. Anascape's patent did not appear to be violated with these two peripherals so look forward to more Nunchuking and Wiimoting.
