There are Less Real Creatures than Spore Creatures
GameRecoil -> -> There are Less Real Creatures than Spore Creatures
The Spore “Creature Creator” was released this summer to eager gamers who couldn’t wait to get their hands onto the full game. Both a free trial version and a full retail version are now available online. Will Wright was hoping for 100,000 creatures to be made by September, but he got a ridiculously big surprise. In the first day of the release 250,000 creatures were made. By the end of thefirst week after the Creature Creator’s release there were a million creatures made.
The number of creatures in Spore’s databases actually surpasses the number of known species on EARTH. The fact that thousands and thousands of people took the time to make creatures (enough to make the number of known creatures on Earth look tiny) is a little frightening. Imagine what good could be done if that sort of cooperation was applied to anything useful? Such as finding an efficient way to reduce our dependency on oil. That’s not important…
What IS important is that it looks like Spore is going to be a huge hit whenever it is released in September of 2008. The full version of the game will include all of the creatures created online and they will populate the Spore world. Not only will each planet be extremely diversified with all of these unique creatures, the player will be able to visit different planets and see the creatures created there.
PC and Mac owners, get ready to start your creature creating engines this fall.
