Survey Says: Consumers Suck, Not Games |
![]() |
Want to know why so many spongy-minded people are blowing up cars and acting like they are in Grand Theft Auto IV?
Nielson Games took a survey regarding the age of people playing Grand Theft Auto IV. 17% of the people who responded to the survey and admitted they played GTA IV were between the ages of 7 (?!) and 16.
61% of the underage gamers bought a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV themselves, while the rest of the underage gamers had the game bought for them. (Let me take this time to interject and ask what the hell are people thinking when they buy a 7 year old a game with a crime in the title? Don't blame the kids for liking the damn game you bought them, you vat of silly idiots. )
Although many stores/entertainment venues are cracking down on the ESRB ratings (monitoring movie ticket sales, DVD sales and music sales), many kids under 17 are still getting their hands on violent games like Grand Theft Auto IV.
So in summary - violent games should be only sold to a mature audience, yet kids as young as 7 are getting their hands on it no matter what ESRB ratings are slapped on the cover. They buy it themselves or their parents/older relatives/older friends do.
It's obvious why the stupid GTA IV inspired crimes are being committed - and it isn't the game's fault. Whoever is letting the soft-spined idiots get ahold of the game should be blamed, not the game itself.
But what do I know, I write about games for a living.
