Rockstar North Wins Big at the Develop Conference

  • This year's Develop Industry Excellence Awards in Brighton surprised almost no one when Rockstar North took home 4 awards from 16 categories: Visual Arts, Audio Accomplishment, Technical Innovation, and In-House Developer.

Not taking home any awards is the person who came up with the title "Audio Accomplishment"?

If that wasn't enough, the main Rockstar company was recognized for basically kicking a lot of ass in the years of video gaming by being given a Special Recognition award. Score.

Fortunately for the rest of the video game industry, Rockstar didn't win everything. Other winners included:

    • - Best New IP award went to Frontier Developments for LostWinds

    • - Nintendo won the Publishing Hero award

    • - Best Use of a License for Travellers's Tales, arguably the most specific award in the history of awards, was grabbed by Lego Indiana Jones

    • - Epic won best Tools Provider

    • - Splash Damage went home happily with the Independent Developer award

    • - Due to its ability to gain investment capital, Realtime Worlds (Crackdown developers) won the Business Development award

Some other companies were honored as well, but when Rockstar wins over 25% of the awards, they're clearly not worth mentioning.
