Retailer in Thailand Says No More to GTAIV

  • An 18 year old Thai man stole a Taxi and then proceeded to rob and fatally stab the driver allegedly because he wanted to see if it was as easy in real life as it is in Grand Theft Auto IV.

    Apparently it is.

Era Interactive Media, the largest video game distributor in Thailand, has informed all retailers to start pulling the games from the shelves immediately. What they're going to do with them is unknown, but if anyone from Era Interactive is reading, I'll take them off your hands.

Ladda Thangsupachai, director of the Thai Ministry of Culture's Cultural Surveillance Centre, said, "This time-bomb has already exploded and the situation could get worse. Today it is a cab driver, but tomorrow it could be a video game shop owner."

Or maybe it'll be a director of a particular country's Cultural Surveillance Centre. Either way, censorship is winning in Thailand as the quest to blame video games for everything short of erectile dysfunction lives on.
