Harmonix Founders Get Beaucoup Money |

You just can't keep good, smart, innovative chaps down during a bad economy. Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy, the founders of Harmonix, are lining up to get additional bonuses. Sometime next year, the Rock Band/early Guitar Hero creators are going to have earned an additional bonus to exceed $150 million. Why? They are so damn good at taking sales expectations and crushing them with their mind-blowing numbers for how many Rock Band titles they sell.
Viacom has already paid the Harmonix founders $150 million for the success of Rock Band, but these additional bonuses will bring their earned total to more than $300 million. The company didn't expect to pay Alex and Eran that much but now they are just compensating them based on the game's success. Well that's one way to earn money during times like this- create a new Rock Band or Guitar Hero game.
I personally feel like the payments they are getting are justified. What does boggle my mind is how people can afford to buy Rock Band and Guitar Hero during a horrible economy like this one. After all, we (the ones purchasing the game) are giving these guys their success.
