Halo 3 and New Xbox Experience Don't Jive |
![]() |

If you woke up bright-eyed, bushy-tailed and slightly aroused this morning at the thought of installing the New Xbox Experience, I am going to put a little damper on you and your pants.
The NXE HDD install of Halo 3 is downright funky. Bungie claims that because of the way the game's designed, it would probably be best if it wasn't installed on the Xbox 360's HD. If you opted to continue with the Halo 3 full HDD install, you're going to get slower loading because of the game's design.
"When Halo 3 runs, if a HDD is present, we copy maps from the DVD to the utility partition on the HDD," says engineer Mat Noguchi. "And as a result, it means that even if Halo 3 is already installed to the HDD, it will still copy maps to the utility partition."
So for the slow kids in the audience: the problem is that copying from the HDD to the HDD is slow. Err. What?
Just know that you should avoid installing Halo 3 to the HDD at all costs, unless you want a murky, sloppy loading during the game.
