Final Fantasy XI Expansion Packs Announced |

Could US gamers see some Final Fantasy XI expansion packs in the near future? Oh God, I hope so.
In Tokyo on November 22, Square Enix round up Final Fantasy XI fans for a pretty sweet announcement; Square Enix has announced three expansion scenarios for FFXI in Japan! The three expansions are titled Ishi no Miru Yume, Senritsu! Mog Matsuri no Yoru, and Shantotto no Inbou. Of course, I haven't the slightest clue what they mean since they are in Japanese, but at least they are far enough along in the planning stages to have names.
All three of these scenarios were managed by the writer Masato Kato, who was responsible for the Rise of Zilart expansion. Not only that, but he supervised the DS remake of Chrono Trigger (which I know all of you are peeing your pants just waiting for).
Although the games should not be nearly as long as a "real" expansion pack, Square Enix are approximating that players will clear each scenario in a couple of months. Unfortunately, unlike other expansions, the three scenarios are being offered only through direct download for about $10/1,000 yen. The first scenario, Ishi no Miru Yume, is going to arrive in the spring of 2009.
All of this information is only applying to gamers in Japan, at the moment, but hopefully there will be news released soon regarding some US-flavored expansions.
