Fallout 3 is Sensitive for Japan |
![]() |

Bethesda recently announced that the company will be making minor changes to the game Fallout 3, so they do not offend any Japanese gamers. The first major change is that the character Mr. Burke has been removed completely. As to why he got kicked out, I'm not sure.
The next two changes seemed to be necessary to me; a quest to detonate a nuclear bomb in the town of Megaton as well as changing the name of a poorly christened weapon (which was a handheld tactical nuclear weapon). Now was the weapon named Fat Man or Little Boy? Just curious.
For those of you who don't know, nuclear attacks are kind of a touchy subject in Japan. Nagasaki and Hiroshoma were devastated by the nuclear bombs Fat Man and Little Boy (respectively) towards the end of the second World War. What this means is that Japan is pretty much the only country to get completely bum f*cked by atomic weapons and they might be a little sore about it today.
Therefore, post-nuclear apocalypse Fallout 3 is trying to be a little sensitive to dear old Japan by removing those touchy items. US gamers, you won't have anything to worry about. Go enjoy that nuclear apocalypse!
