  • A big part of Dead Space, the new game out for Xbox 360 and PS3 (and soon PC), gore is a big part of the game. Without the corpses and monster attacking you that are practically pouring blood and nasty all over you, it's just not that scary. Is being attacked by a cuddly puppy scary? No. But dip him in red corn starch and it's a hell of a lot scarier.

     

    Before Isaac arrives on the ship, a war breaks out. All of the people who were out in space are torn apart, dead, and disgusting. In order to make it all look real and not like a botched C-movie, the development company had to work hard.

     

    The company actually looked at pictures of car accidents, war scenes and other violent situations in order to make the terrible carnage look absolutely real. The gaming experience just wouldn't be as pure if gamers looked at what are supposed to be horrific corpses and they think "goo" and not "HOLY HELL WHAT IS THAT?"
