Advisor for Metal Gear Solid Arrested for Illegal Arms Dealing |
![]() |
Konami's Metal Gear Solid was a fantastic action game; the details of the weapons were particularly accurate. The reason for this was the Konami had an advisor that would help protect the accurate representation of the weapons in the Metal Gear games. Just recently that advisor, Tomoaki Iishiba, has been arrested for illegal arms dealing with Japan. The consultant is under investigation for selling American night vision scopes to Japan. Iishiba bought 60 of the EoTech 553 sights from OpticsPlanet for $639 each and exported them to his conspirators in Japan without properly applying for an export license previous to that.
The US District Court of Seattle is handling the charges of Iishibia, an Amy Captain who has been working as a laison with the Japanese military. Although he was born in Japan, he moved to America to join the army and served in Afghanistan in 2003. Unforunately because of the recent charges, he was demoted to assistant operating officer. He has not commented on the charges filed against him.
